Ever since Luke was born, I've learned so much about healthy babies and parenting. As a pediatric critical care nurse you might think I know everything about children and their development....well, I'm only experienced (aside from my teenage babysitting years) in caring for critically ill children, not the healthy ones. So this has been a huge learning curve for me.
Needless to say, I've made mistakes, but I've also gotten a few things right. There are definitely some things I wish I would have known, as it would have saved me some time, sanity, and of course...a little ca$h. Live and learn. I absolutely do not profess to know everything, and what works best for me definitely might not work for you (and vice versa), but as long as I can help just one Mama out, I've accomplished my goal. Life is crazy and it takes a village...but we don't really have those anymore so let's just help each other as much as we can.
Additionally, I've learned so much (through the help and encouragement of my sister, Ryan) about the importance of safe products for everyday life. With her guidance, I've taken this to a whole new level, and started researching a great deal into safe products for Luke. I was absolutely shocked to find out how many toxins, chemicals, preservatives, pesticides, antibiotics and GMOs were in these everyday products. Not just our food, but our personal hygiene and cleaning items too! What shocked and scared me even more, was how many of these terrible ingredients are in our kids' stuff! There are all kinds of awful things in baby formula, baby food, diapers, baby shampoo, etc...
While I absolutely try to be as organic as sanely possible, it's hard. So I promise not to pass judgment, I only want to educate you and help you make the best decision for you and your family. I'm only just learning how to be a mother, and have only just started adjusting my lifestyle to make it safer for my family, and I am by no means perfect. So learn along with me!
I would like to dedicate this blog to my family and fellow mama friends who have taught me what they know and inspired me! Thank you!
